Best New Cars 2014

The 2014 model year is shaping up to be a noteworthy one. Manufacturers are offering a winning collection of new and fully redesigned models, including everything from practical family sedans and down-to-earth pickup trucks, to stylish luxury cars and sizzling sports coupes. Here is a list of some of the most remarkable new models for 2014.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

Car enthusiasts will be excited about the newest model of this iconic American sports car. The 2014 Stingray comes in coupe and convertible versions, and underneath that sleek body you’ll find a powerful, technologically advanced 6.2 liter V8 engine, with 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque that will thrust you from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.8 seconds. The new Drive Mode Selector feature will allow the driver to control the car’s performance attributes in different driving situations, including traveling on wet roads, or enabling the engine to run on four cylinders to improve fuel economy.

Mercedes Benz S-Class

This smartly redesigned version of Mercedes’ flagship S-class sedan redefines the term luxury. The S550 version boasts a 455 horsepower twin-turbo V8, and the higher-performance S63 AMG 4MATIC features a 5.5-liter twin-turbo 577-horsepower V8. The S-class models come with a staggering list of high-tech chassis control options, like an autonomous driving mode, automatic steering to keep you centered between lane markers, and automatic suspension adjustment that keeps your passengers virtually unaware of imperfections in the road. If you want to go completely crazy with luxury features, you can opt for rear seats that create the feeling of a hot stone massage, heated armrests, and a climate control system with a perfuming and ionizing ability.

Jaguar F-Type

With a gorgeous, shapely body and 3.0 liter 380 horsepower engine, this two-seat, rear-drive convertible is priced below the Jaguar XK sports car line. If you want to spend a little more, though, opt for the 5.0 liter 495 horsepower supercharged V8 that will propel you to 60 mph in just over four seconds. All of the engines feature a seven-speed, manual transmission, and the combination of the light-weight structure, rear-drive configuration and responsive suspension deliver the nimble handling abilities we’ve come to expect from British sports cars.

Mercedes Benz CLA-Class

This is Mercedes’ first ever front-drive compact luxury sedan. This four-door vehicle is styled like the larger CLS-class models, with its aerodynamically designed sloping roof. The base model CLA250 comes with a 208 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and the higher performance CLA45 AMG packs a powerful punch with a hand-built 355-horsepower 2.0 liter turbo four. Both models feature Mercedes’ 4matic all-wheel-drive and the Mercedes’ Parktronic system with Advance Parking Assist.

Cadillac ELR

This midsize, luxury, extended range electric car features the sophisticated styling, exclusive high-tech-looking interior, and assorted amenities that you would expect from a Cadillac. Its electric motor can run for about 35 miles on a charge before engaging the small gasoline engine, so most of us would rarely have to visit a gas station.

Infinity Q50

The Q50 is basically a makeover of Infinity’s previous G37 model, and it’s available with either a 3.7 liter 328 horsepower V6 engine, or, for the environmentally conscious, a 3.5 liter V6 hybrid version. With features like active cruise control, automatic forward braking, and the new Active Lane Control System that keeps the car centered between highway markers, the Q50 can practically drive itself. The new i-Key system recognizes up to four users, and it lets them customize parameters like seat and mirror adjustments, entertainment and navigation system presets, and even the interior temperature of the car.

Toyota Corolla

The six-speed manual transmission is standard, and most models offer the new CVT automatic that lets you opt between manual shift and automatic driving modes.
